For the Hyatt Hotel in Etobicoke, Urgiles Brothers Excavating Inc. delivered a comprehensive scope of site development, earthworks, servicing, and exterior works, supporting the project from early site preparation through to final finishes.

Our work began with the demolition of the existing parking lot and site clearing, including the removal of trees, asphalt, concrete, and existing underground services. We installed construction access roads and mud mats, along with environmental protection measures such as silt fencing, tree protection, and catch basin protection. All removed materials were hauled and disposed of at certified transfer stations in accordance with environmental regulations.

Our earthworks scope included bulk excavation for foundations, raft slabs, and underground services, followed by backfilling and compaction using geotechnically approved materials. Granular placement was completed to prepare a stable base for the slab-on-grade and exterior hardscape areas.

Site servicing works included the installation of sanitary, storm, fire, and domestic water systems, along with catch basins, manholes, and a cistern. All systems were inspected, flushed, and compacted to required subgrade elevations to meet municipal and consultant standards.

As the project advanced, we were contracted to complete fine grading of approximately 8,600 m² of existing granular base, followed by the supply, placement, and compaction of asphalt base & top across the site. Exterior concrete works included over 1,000 linear metres of concrete curbs, more than 1,000 m² of concrete sidewalk, a 107 m² concrete loading pad, and 180 linear metres of toe walls constructed to OPSD standards. Final site finishes included line painting, bollard installation, handicap parking signage, precast parking bumpers, and stamped asphalt.

From mobilization to completion, our team executed each phase with care, coordination, and attention to detail. The Hyatt Hotel in Etobicoke is now fully operational and reflects our ability to deliver complex site development and hardscape projects from start to finish.
